Easter

Gary and I had the blessing of visiting my family during the Easter weekend. We arrived in Bakersfield Saturday afternoon, where we spent time chatting, shopping, and enjoying a delicious dinner with each other.

Quinn was kind enough to lend us his room for the night, so after a refreshing sleep, we attended church with my family Sunday morning. I saw our basket full of delicious and incredible chocolate- and realized it was fast Sunday- so Gary and I hid the basket until later, haha. Anyway, church was nice and spiritual and we really enjoyed it.

After church and after a nice nap, Gary and I feasted on the amazing chocolate candy, and Devonn, Carla, and the kids came over for a super fun egg hunt. My parents' foreign exchange student, Zara, who is living with them for the year, as well as a couple of her friends (Kate and Megan) who are also visiting the country, came over as well. The egg hunt was awesome. Two of the eggs had a $10 bill, several of them had a $1 bill, and the rest had candy. The game was for the teenagers and children, but Andrew insisted I help him. So, I did, and we found 2 eggs with a $1 bill. In the end, we realized there was still a $10 egg missing, so we all went out to search- in the bushes, under the cars, everywhere. My brother, who hid them, couldn't remember where he put it either- just the general area. Eventually, after bug bites and bush scratches, James exclaimed he had found it, and pulled it open immediately to show that he had indeed found the missing egg. What a fun adventure though! It was a really neat and creative idea.

After church- before I got back into my jeans

Group photo. I figured if I stood in the back on a rock, I'd still be seen. Guess it didn't work well. From left:

In the end, we had a great time; it was so nice visiting family and seeing everyone.

Easter mornings were always the best growing up. We were always so excited as kids to see which stuffed animal we got and especially what candy we were going to chow down. My mom would record us explaining all the things we got in our baskets- our dad would then make us a nice breakfast, we'd have an Easter-egg hunt, and head off to church. After church, we would visit Grannie, Dean, and Granddaddy for another egg-hunt with money included. We would then have an enjoyable feast. Good times. I love how simple it used to be- I think kids are way too spoiled these days with several baskets full of stuff. One little basket with a stuffed animal, game, CD, whatever with candy was just perfect enough. I have the best family ever.

Growing Up

So...time slows down, when? It has to sometime, right?   I missed posting in the month of May, where two pretty big days took place!  ...
