Hey, everyone. Not too much has been going on here at the Pollock household, but I thought I'd stop by and give a few updates anyway.
Gary and I are both doing pretty well at work, though I am starting to get too exhausted some days to put up with certain behaviors. I have 3 more working weeks left before I get to go on leave, which I am counting down the days!
We are both excited and ready to meet our son next month as we have about 6-7 weeks left until his due date. I can't believe how fast this has flown by!
Also, we are starting to get used to the area a bit more. I've been going on walks to local parks and getting used to the neighborhood. We don't go out nearly as much as we used to, mainly because we just don't want to deal with traffic. I guess it's a bonus though because we've definitely been saving money. Most days we'll relax at home and sometimes hit a few places on the weekends, but for the most part, it's just too much energy to go out and deal with people and cars.
We've also been doing pretty well health-wise, though I'm currently dealing with a sinus infection which kept me up last night. It's bad enough I can't really do anything about it, just hope it goes away soon. It's hard to sleep with such a sore throat, though I've been trying to find ways to help soothe it without much luck.
As for other news, we recently had an incident in our complex. I went grocery shopping last Friday evening, and it seems I forgot to lock the car. I'm usually pretty good (and slightly obsessive) about locking the car, but I guess it slipped my mind while carrying in groceries. Well, come Saturday afternoon, Gary and I went out to the car and realized the passenger door was slightly opened. At this point we noticed our portable GPS was gone as well as a cup of quarters we had in there. That was frustrating. Anyway, we made a police report, spoke to a detective, and called our landlord. You see, our parking garage has controlled access, meaning people off the streets should not be able to get in. From what I heard, maintenance looked at the video footage (because there are security cameras), and saw some hooded guy hanging out in the garage around midnight. What's frustrating is they didn't look at all the footage because it was "too long". The detective told Gary and I to look at the footage ourselves. Um, isn't that his job? Our landlord kept dodging the topic of us looking at the footage ourselves. Anyway, they also saw some moron decided to park in the middle of the driveway to the garage, causing the gate to be left open. We didn't get details on that person either, who I believe is responsible for whatever thief got in. I would LOVE to know who that tenant is. Our landlord, who didn't look at the footage herself, is convinced it wasn't someone from our complex, but some guy who must have been hanging around and waiting for the right time to slip in. So, I don't know if there's much more we can do, but I'm going to attempt to contact the detective again and get real details. Annoying. Now I'm definitely obsessed with making sure the cars are locked.
I guess things could be worse, right? Lesson learned on my part. Anyway, besides that annoyance, we are both doing really well! We are definitely excited about our future and what the Lord has in store for us.
I guess that's about it for now!

how frustrating about the theft! And that the police and landlord are being thoroughly unhelpful... Glad you guys are getting adjusted to your new place otherwise!!
