Gary's been taking the subway to work, which has been really nice for him. There's a station just a mile or so from here with free parking for the day, so he parks, and off he goes! It's much faster and more affordable than driving through insane traffic.
My commute has been lighter too. I also discovered how much I hate the 101 freeway. It's just awful. Even the 405 is better most times. But, luckily I'm only on it for a few miles before I hit the flowy 134. It's a pain though when we want to go somewhere just a few-five miles away and get stuck in traffic. We definitely miss being able to walk everywhere like our last place, but we'll get used to it in time. Besides, there's much more to do here.
We've been attempting to learn our new location a bit more. There's just so much to do around us we haven't been able to fully check everything out. A couple of times we've purchased a day pass for the Metro and have done some shopping in Little Tokyo and Old Town Pasadena. There's a lot near us as well, so we've been able to check out a few places. We also found some nearby beautiful parks, so that will be great once the little guy is born. I'm so glad he's going to be here during great walking weather.
One park I discovered, which is a little farther than our local ones, is the Anthony Beilenson Park in Lake Balboa. It's only about 5-6 miles from here, so it would require a drive, but it's definitely beautiful. It's very large (80 acres) with a lake, playgrounds, sports courts, and many other things. It was very alive with lots of kids and families- and free parking.
Anyway, that was just a quick update! Time to enjoy our Saturday.

Glad you guys are settling in and starting to find time to explore your new area! That park really is beautiful! Would be a fun place to spend a Saturday with your little one, I'm sure! And that's awesome that Gary is able to take the subway to and from work. That'd make life so much more bearable than sitting in all that traffic....
That is beautiful!
